Omnix Software provides solutions designed to help telecom operators, contractors and site providers realise operational efficiency across the network lifecycle. Our solutions are offered in 4 Omnix ‘solution packs’ (Network Programme Logistics, Network Asset Tracking, Network Asset Maintenance and Network Estates Management) which are available independently or as a fully integrated suite.
The latest version of the Omnix software suite – R9 – has been engineered to address the challenges of today’s global market, from application solutions that provide unprecedented control over resource planning and analysis, to a technical architecture that embraces the need to integrate and exchange information with other components of the OSS/BSS.
Omnix R9 uses leading edge technology and its web interface enables our clients to share information quickly and easily and gain greater control over their processes. The solution is built on a robust and highly extensible Java EE platform. In addition to the intrinsic benefits of this technology platform, XSP delivers a set of application components that offer functionality common to all solutions such as:
- Localisation (e.g. of screens, labels, messages address formats, dates, currencies, etc.)
- Security Framework for Authentication and Authorisation; loosely-coupled JAAS implementation
- Extensibility Framework (the base class and metadata infrastructure for building and extending the Managed Entities at the core of our solutions)
- Integrated Workflow Engine, allowing any Managed Entity to participate in a Business Process; includes ability to work offline on mobile PDA device or laptop
- Document Production through integrated BIRT solution
- Document Management and Attachments Administration
- Integrated MapInfo MapXtreme GIS and spatial-enablement of Managed Entities
- Information Auditing (standard logging of data entry and modification)
- Data Loading Tool (standard XML and CSV plugins)
All components of the platform are fully service-orientated, so can be readily adapted to incumbent applications where applicable - for example, existing authentication or document management systems.
Next Generation ArchitectureOmnix R9 is a thin-client, N-tier architecture, engineered upon the Java EE platform. It features a standard web client with access through the Web Server to business logic on the Application Server. Persistent data storage is managed by the Oracle RDBMS:
Through this architecture, Omnix is able to meet the demands of today's OSS, where a service-oriented, component-based architecture is an essential part of achieving efficient integration. In this, we closely follow the best practices laid out by the Telemanagement Forum's Interface Program.
We ensure that all data is accessible through public APIs that conform to the OSS/J Common API for participation in wider OLTP interactions. For OLAP, we also provide a public data mart as standard for incorporation into the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
Off-the-shelf products in our software suite are assembled from finer-grained business components. This component architecture means that rather than being a cumbersome and closed end-to-end solution, we offer significant deployment flexibility wherein components can be:
- Adapted to existing, incumbent installations of like-for-like functionality
- Assembled in a bespoke form to meet the needs of the target OSS
- Withheld from deployment as required
